Taste Notes

From the moment Hijiri no Sato touches your flavor palate, you’ll experience a silky umami depth, a gentle natural sweetness, and an elegant freshness reminiscent of the morning mist over Uji’s rolling tea fields.

Its flavor profile is deeply rooted in Japanese tea heritage, echoing the refined matcha once reserved for imperial tea ceremonies in the Edo period. As you take a sip, a clean, refreshing aftertaste unveils itself—much like the quiet serenity of a tea farm at dawn.

This is matcha for connoisseurs and seekers of true tea craftsmanship.

Ways to Prepare

1. Sift Matcha: Using a fine mesh strainer or traditional matcha sifter, sift your desired serving size of matcha into your chawan (matcha bowl). This removes any clumps and ensures a smooth, velvety texture.

Serving Size
Usucha (薄茶) Light & Frothy: 1-2g (Approx. 1 tsp.)
Koicha (濃茶) Thick & Intense: 3-4g (Approx. 2 tsp.)

2. Add Warm Water: Pour a small amount (about 20ml) of warm water into the chawan. If using a temperature-controlled kettle, set it to (175°F / 80°C) for optimal flavor. No temperature control? No problem! Simply boil water, then pour it into a teacup and let it sit for about 1-2 minutes to naturally cool to the right temperature before adding it to your matcha.

3. Whisk: Add remaining 50-60ml of warm water into the chawan. Hold your chasen (bamboo whisk) upright and whisk using a W-shaped or zig-zag motion, ensuring air is incorporated. Whisk vigorously for 15-20 seconds until a creamy foam forms on top. Once your matcha is smooth and frothy, take a moment to breathe in its fresh aroma before taking a sip!

MATCHA FROM JAPAN

Uji, Kyoto

Nestled in Kyoto's rolling hills, Uji is world-renowned for producing the finest matcha for centuries. Our Hijiri no Sato matcha is sourced directly from one of Uji’s most respected tea farms, ensuring unparalleled quality, deep umami flavor, and a naturally vibrant green color in every sip.

PRODUCTION PROCESS

Stone Milled to Perfection

Only the most tender tea leaves from the spring harvest are selected for Hijiri no Sato—delivering superior sweetness, smooth texture, and deep umami richness. These leaves are then stone-milled for hours, preserving their delicate flavors and creating an ultra-fine matcha powder that whisks effortlessly into a velvety, frothy experience.

LIFE ON THE TEA FARM

Farmers of Tradition

Behind every cup of Hijiri no Sato is the dedication of expert tea farmers who have spent their lives perfecting the craft of matcha cultivation. These artisans hand-pick only the most tender leaves, ensuring a matcha experience that is rich, smooth, and full of depth.
